Lacrosse European Championships played on GreenFields Evolution Pro
From 15 to 25 July, the 2019 ELF Women’s Lacrosse European Championships take place in Netanya, Israel. Sixteen teams are competing in the tournament, with England as the defending champion.
The matches are played on a GreenFields Evolution Pro pitch, which offers the players a first-class surface that is particularly suitable for heavy usage in a short period of time: the entire tournament will be concluded within 10 days.
The GreenFields Evolution Pro pitch is the first lacrosse artificial turf field in the Middle East, installed by our local partner Carmel Sports. Last year Carmel Sports and GreenFields successfully cooperated when installing several artificial turf fields for the Maccabiah Games.
About GreenFields Evolution
The GreenFields Evolution fibre is a patented fibre shape. The shape offers the best trade-off between durability and resilience. The shape has been developed to be lightweight and split resistant. Due to the fact it has no reflectional symmetry, it shows improved resilience over symmetrical fibres of similar dimensions. The Evolution yarns consist of 3 fibres in field green and 3 fibres in lime green. This natural color combination mimics freshly grown natural high-performance grass.
International match between Ukraine and Serbia played on XtraGrass in Arena Lviv
As partners, GreenFields and ENGO finished the installation of XtraGrass in Arena Lviv, the 35,000 seat football stadium in Western Ukraine that was also used during Euro 2012.
This Friday, the 7th of June, the international match between Ukraine and Serbia will be played in this stadium. On the 10th of June, the national team of Ukraine will play against Luxembourg on the new XtraGrass pitch. Both are qualifying matches for Euro 2020.
Arena Lviv is now the first stadium in the region with an XtraGrass pitch. GreenFields’ installation partner ENGO gained a lot of experience during the XtraGrass installations for Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine and FC Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia, resulting in a flawless installation procedure at Arena Lviv.
The hybrid XtraGrass pitch offers the stadium a first-class surface with perfect playability, combined with more playing hours. This is the result of having a small percentage of artificial grass protecting and reinforcing the natural grass at all times. In addition, the backing of XtraGrass offers more stability, increasing the strength of this pitch. This way, Arena Lviv will have a full-green pitch all year round, more playing hours than with natural grass but an ensured optimal player experience.
TenCate Grass Group and subsidiary GreenFields partners in first circular artificial grass processing plant in the Netherlands
This initiative makes it possible for municipalities, sports clubs and other organisations to have end-of-life synthetic turf processed in a sustainable manner.
TenCate Grass Group invests in the establishment of GBN Artificial Grass Recycling B.V. (GBN-AGR). From the first quarter of 2020, this company will recycle artificial grass in the Westelijk Havengebied in Amsterdam into high-quality circular raw materials that can be reused in industry and in the construction of new artificial grass fields. Until then, the GBN-AGR processing company will take in end-of-life artificial grass at a temporary location.
CEO TenCate Grass Group Michael Vogel:
“TenCate Grass strives to supply the most innovative and sustainable artificial grass with the lowest possible environmental impact. We are therefore delighted to be working with GBN Group, the leading expert in the field of recycling. With this initiative we are taking responsibility for the entire artificial grass chain, from manufacturing to end-of-life processing and reuse. This is our first step in creating a fully circular artificial grass process globally.”
GBN-AGR works on 100% circular processing of artificial grass, so that BRL certification becomes possible. This certification guarantees both clients and buyers of circular raw materials a completely transparent and high-quality process. GBN-AGR will publish an annual impact report, which will indicate, among other things, how many square metres of artificial grass have been processed, into which raw materials or products and where the products have ended up.
