The study conducted by the ILOS at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences aims to investigate outdoor sports facilities with synthetic turf systems and synthetic landscape turfs across Europe to estimate the discharge quantities of secondary microplastics. This investigation was prompted by discussions regarding the ban on primary microplastics in synthetic turf surfaces, indicating a potential future debate on secondary microplastics.
