As of January 2012, Georgia had a total of 52 registered football clubs; with 21 full size synthetic pitches. Player participation in males over 18 has seen a 20% increase since 2004.

On the subject of synthetic turf pitches Gaioz Darsazde, Technical Director, Georgian Football Association said “Synthetic turf supply and installation of new, full size football fields in Georgia are of great help for the development of football in general. Installing full size pitches helped solving many problems with the teams that were playing their matches on natural turf pitches that were not in good shape, they also help a lot for the training facilities as we could ensure all day for young football players and football academies ect, which are crucial for football development in the area”.
