Stockholm Football Association is the governing body for football in Stockholm County (except for 4 out of 26 municipalities). The Association was founded on 29 March 1917. Today the association has 450 member clubs. Among them the largest clubs are Djurgården IF, AIK, Hammarby IF and IF Brommapojkarna. The association represents 5000 youth teams playing 40 000 matches per season.
Stockholm Football Association is very much engaged in the work to create a sustainable transition to fossil free football facilities by, in cooperation with the industry, testing new biobased turf systems that meet the demands set by both FIFA
and the Nordic climate.
