TigerTurf appoints new Sales Manager for the Middle East

TigerTurf has strengthened its bid to capitalise on the growth of the global artificial grass market, with the appointment of Joddy Murray-Bruce as Middle East Sales Manager.

Joddy has been tasked with building the presence of the TigerTurf brand in the Middle East, and will be responsible for all sales activity across the region.

With a proven track record of delivering significant sales growth for other organisations within the manufacturing sector, Joddy is expected to bring a wealth of technical sales experience to the role, as well as a familiarity with artificial grass developed during a spell as a semi-professional footballer.

Joddy commented: “Working for such a well-known manufacturer really allows you to get under the skin of its processes and products, which is something I’m really excited to do. I’ve played football on 3G pitches for a number of years now, so to combine my professional experience with one of my hobbies is something I see as a real plus.

TigerTurf boosts Technical Support with new appointment

TigerTurf UK has significantly enhanced the level of assistance it can offer investors in artificial grass with the appointment of Mark Taylor as Technical Support.

Boasting over 10 years’ experience in the sports surface industry, Mark joins TigerTurf from Labosport, the world leading independent testing laboratories dedicated to sports surfaces, where he was Field Testing Manager.

Having spent the majority of his career to date steering contractors and manufacturers through the 3G pitch testing process, Mark brings with him an in-depth understanding of the national and international governing body standards, including FIFA, World Rugby, FIH, and ITF.

In his new role as Technical Support, Mark will now be responsible for implementing an extensive aftersales support programme, ensuring TigerTurf customers can benefit from regular pitch inspections, ongoing maintenance and service programmes, and a new customer feedback process.

As well as assisting TigerTurf’s National Sales Manager on Framework projects, Mark will also ensure the same exceptional standards are applied to landscape and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) installations.

On his appointment, Mark commented: “I’m excited to be joining TigerTurf at a time when the company is a genuine market leader in its field. Pitch standards are changing all the time, so it has become more important than ever for 3G pitch investors to ensure their surfaces comply with the relevant rules and regulations – something I know only too well having spent most of my career working in a testing environment.

Cruyff Court Everton is kick started by Koeman.

The sun was shining in Walton on Wednesday for the opening of Cruyff Court Everton. The fifth of its kind in the UK, the artificial grass pitch, funded by The Johan Cruyff Foundation and The People’s Postcode Lottery will be operated by Everton in the Community (EiTC) and will provide members of the local community in the area a safe place to play sport.

Everton FC manager and Cruyff Foundation ambassador, Ronald Koeman, was guest of honour and declared the pitch officially open by scoring a penalty watched on by EiTC members and local school children. After watching a game played by the Everton FC disability team, Ronald, a close friend of Johan Cruyff remarked that it was an incredibly proud day and that he is equally as proud to be a part of the project and of the foundation itself.

The pitch is located at EiTC People’s Hub, a community centre opened in November 2016 that is home to many of the charity’s community projects and offers local people a safe haven to socialise and to access vital services. The Cruyff Court will enable Everton in the Community to continue to provide a wide range of programmes for the whole community, as well as introduce new programmes such as, walking football and disability sessions delivered by the charity’s coaching staff and volunteers.

The Cruyff Foundation’s overall aim is to provide children in the UK and abroad with a safe place to play sport, but as Nieeils Meijer, Director of the Cruyff Foundation mentions, the court will offer so much more: “The Cruyff Court offers the community of Everton a playfield that stimulates physical activity, but it is designed to be so much more than just a football pitch. It is a place where pupils learn about respect, responsibility and integration through sports.”

After the successful completion of Cruyff Court Everton the Foundation are now looking forward to the opening of more Cruyff Courts in the UK this year.

TigerTurf bolsters overseas operations with new Export Manager

TigerTurf UK has bolstered support for its overseas operations with the appointment of its first ever Export Sales Manager.

Bringing over 10 years of experience within the sports surfacing sector, David Hook will head up TigerTurf’s newly-expanded export sales team as the business looks to further grow its presence in mainland Europe and the Middle East.

David forged a career in the textile industry through various technical, operational and sales roles, before a love of sport led him to a succession of business development roles in the manufacture of artificial grass. Having developed an eye for improving product quality and business efficiencies, David’s focus then moved on to developing new export sales markets, building sustainable relationships across Europe, Scandinavia and as far afield as Japan and Canada.

David will now be tasked with helping TigerTurf to build on existing partnerships abroad, as well as identifying new opportunities amidst a growing level of global competition. In this he will be supported by Suzi Cowen, who becomes Export Sales Co-ordinator following a successful period strengthening TigerTurf’s landscape sales.

David commented: “The opportunity to represent one of the major brands in the industry was one I couldn’t resist, and I’m delighted to be working within such a strong team backed up by excellent product range and quality of service.

TigerTurf launches a new video channel at TigerTurf.tv

This month sees TigerTurf launch a new online video site, TigerTurf.tv, giving customers, consultants, architects and others interested in artificial grass an easy to access reference website for videos of TigerTurf projects.

As well as the website, TigerTurf.tv is also available as a free iPad app and can be downloaded here or through AppStore on your tablet.

TigerTurf.tv contains five different sections: Sports, Landscape, Projects, Partners, and TenCate. Each section contains video content relevant to the heading.

  • Sports – TigerTurf videos showing sports pitch installations, interviews with sports facilities’ staff and other sport-specific clips.
  • Landscape – TigerTurf videos showing guidance for landscape installation and maintenance as well as other landscape-specific clips.

TigerTurf blog receives RIBA CPD approval

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has granted CPD approval to a blog by leading artificial grass manufacturer, TigerTurf UK.

Thanks to its RIBA approved status, a range of posts on the TigerTurf blog, which aims to enhance readers’ understanding of how artificial grass can be specified for different sport and landscape-based applications, can now count towards the annual CPD requirement for architects and other construction professionals.

Cruyff Foundation Turns To TigerTurf For New Community Sports Facilities

The Johan Cruyff Foundation has partnered with leading artificial turf manufacturer, TigerTurf, to install up to six children’s community sports pitches throughout the UK.

Thanks to funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery, the charitable organisation founded by Dutch football legend, Johan Cruyff, to give children the opportunity to play and be active, is expected to deliver outdoor playing areas manufactured by TigerTurf to schools and community areas around the country. Each ‘Cruyff Court’ is designed with the aim of encouraging children to get active and learn vital social skills such as respect, responsibility and integration through sports.

Introduced in 1997, the Foundation’s ‘Cruyff Court’ concept is a community leisure area measuring 42m x 28m and made using artificial turf. Every one of the new courts installed during its three-year partnership with TigerTurf will boast the optimum combination of durability, high-performance and safety for users of all ages.

Initially, the agreement is set to bring Cruyff Courts to six local areas; some of which in partnership with professional football clubs as part of their community outreach programmes.

TigerTurf Scoops Leading Industry Award

Leading artificial turf manufacturer, TigerTurf UK, has beaten off strong competition to win the Professional Club Award at the European Synthetic Turf Organisation (ESTO) Football Awards.

TigerTurf landed the award for its installation of a third generation (3G) playing surface at Hamilton Academical FC’s New Douglas Park. The award winning TigerTurf Total Turf 60XQ has been in place at the Accies’ home stadium since the start of the 2013 / 14 campaign and has consistently performed at FIFA’s elite level, and has led to Hamilton securing promotion to the Scottish Premiership (SPL) in their first season playing on the new TigerTurf pitch.

The award resulted from an industry-wide vote, which saw key individuals from leading European football associations and leagues decide that the leading 3G surface at New Douglas Park should be honoured with the industry-renowned title from ESTO.
