In times of crisis sport is particularly important for people and so it was with great pleasure when the renovated Yusuf Kaptan Stadium in Lefkosa, Cyprus reopened its doors for sport in May 2013. The stadium was opened with a ceremony by the Prime Minister and the Minister for National Education, Youth and Sports. The Prime Minister in his speech emphasized the need for professionalization in Turkish Cypriot sport. The football field to be used by Ağdel Yenicami Sports Club was renovated at a cost of 1.92 million Turkish Lira and now got a synthetic pitch and illumination. The club will be responsible for maintenance, repair and control of the pitch, while the government will continue to provide technical services and make sure that other clubs can benefit as well. Throughout the opening ceremony the objectives for an investment like this are emphasized as being Cyprus sport, youth and children services and the achievements of the club are highlighted.
