Uckfield Community Sport

End of January 2014 a brand new, sports pitch at the Uckfield Community Technology College has been opened. This is a crucial installation for the local football clubs that require a reliable surface to fulfil weekly training schedules and competitive league fixtures. As this pitch is also supposed to benefit the whole community there was need for the pitch to be multi-functional for a variety of different sports including rugby, meaning that it also had to comply with strict Critical Fall Height & Head Injury Criteria.

The project was jointly funded by the Football Foundation and Rugby Football Union in partnership with Sussex County. Besides the new sports surface an access ramp, floodlights, twin bar and super-rebound fence have been installed as well.

The Principal of Uckfield Community Technology College, Hugh Hennebry, emphasized the importance of the financial and technical support without which the world class facility for the community would not have been realised.

Members of the local football clubs highlighted the potential for more youth involvement and the benefit for young talent to play on such high quality facilities.
