The TÖNNIES Arena

The TÖNNIES Arena is home to The FSV Gütersloh 2009 – a women’s football club from Gütersloh, Germany. The club was formed from the women’s and girls’ football division of FC Gütersloh 2000. The first team took over from the 2009/10 season the place in the 2nd Bundesliga Nord and played in the 2012/13 season in the Bundesliga. All that on synthetic turf.

The stadium is located on the company premises of the Tönnies Group in Rheda-Wiedenbrück. The Tönnies Arena was built in a five-month construction period on a total area of 12,000 m². The construction costs amounted to five million euros. The cosy stadium has capacity of 3,252 people in seats and 1,000 in standing room. The infrastructure around the multi-purpose arena includes not only five dressing rooms and a three-person speaker cabin, but also a press box, as well as a fitness room, a sauna, and the playground of the company kindergarten. The heated artificial turf complies with the FIFA guidelines and currently offers the most modern professional cover for synthetic turf sports fields.

2013 brought a cooperation between the Tönnies Arena and the 2. Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld. An extensive use of the venue by Arminia teams from the pros to the youth teams for test matches and training sessions was regulated.
