ESTO continues to consult with ECHA
Over the last two years ESTO has been recognised by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), as an authority on the European synthetic turf industry and its markets.
ECHA is the is the driving force among regulatory authorities in implementing the EU’s groundbreaking chemicals legislation for the benefit of human health and the environment as well as for innovation and competitiveness.
As part of their review of the current REACH regulations for infill materials used in synthetic turf fields ECHA has become aware of the growing European market for synthetic turf mini-pitches and has contacted ESTO to provide background information on the numbers and types of mini-pitches being built. This is so they can include these facilities in their assessment of the potential risk to players and the social and economic impact any amendment to the current REACH regulations may have.
Following consultation with members, ESTO has been able to provide comprehensive feedback to ECHA, which we hope will enable them to make informed decisions.
As ECHA’s proposals to amend the REACH regulations develop ESTO will continue to be proactive, ensuing members are aware of the implications and have the opportunity to comment at the appropriate times.
