Constant synthetic turf quality at HSV Hockey club
The HSV Trainingszentrum (training centre) is a 5 835 square-meter hockey field that hosts the HSV hockey club. Hamburger SV (HSV) is a German multisport club founded in 1887, probably mostly known for its football team, which comprises among others the hockey club. The HSV Trainingszentrum is part of a giant sport facility which hosts all the amateur teams of the club from various sports.
As synthetic turf has become an essential part of hockey, it is common to see this type of surface used in any hockey clubs, especially in an important one like Hamburger SV. Precisely, the hockey synthetic turf pitch was installed at the HSV training ground in August 2012, with the Hockey Gold Water Based turf system, coloured in green (inside the pitch) and blue (outside the pitch). This particular system is a revolutionary turf system, designed specifically for the highest levels of field hockey play. It is the industry’s first-class hockey field offering.
Indeed, the turf features a hockey-specific fibre shape and texture for excellent ball performance and low abrasion, offering all the room needed to make fast passes with precise ball control and trajectories. This particular pitch is water based, which is essential for elite hockey levels, suggesting that it features no infill. This fact consequently means that the pitch requires a water sprinkling system to achieve regular watering of the synthetic surface.
